This nonprofit marketing agency is sponsored by the Christian Service Foundation, an organization affiliated with the Baptist Church, in Thailand. It purchases crafts from seven different hill tribe groups living in about 50 villages scattered in the northern mountains. Half of these items are sold as exports and the other half at local sales.

Ten Thousand Villages purchases velvet and silk appliqué ornaments, stockings and tree skirts, embroidered cotton cushion covers, purses and frames as well as gongs from Thai Tribal Crafts. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from Thai Tribal Crafts since 1978.
